Emergency Sheltering During a Pandemic

This hurricane season is going to be especially challenging in light of the impacts of COVID-19 is having on our communities.  The pandemic will challenge jurisdictions’ ability to staff and safely operate an emergency animal shelter for evacuees’ pets and rescued animals.

This workshop was created by the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition’s (NARSC) COVID-19 Sheltering Committee, and will teach participants about the pandemic’s impacts on sheltering (and how to plan for and solve these challenges), how to adapt your shelter layout to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and considerations for creating COVID-19 safe shelter protocols.

Participants will also learn about the free shelter consulting that is being offered by NARSC personnel, including planning assistance and live remote help during your operations.
